Location Information
Famous for its connections to the River Thames and the great area of park land, Putney Heath, Putney is a popular and attractive residential area. Dotted with smaller office spaces around its commercial centre, Putney is a fantastic location for budding business owners looking for their first offices.
Putney is situated right on the river, with Putney Bridge being the starting point for the annual University Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge. The crossing has a great deal of historical connections going back to the Domesday Book. It's famed open spaces have drawn Londoners for centuries as a place for relaxing in the clean air.
The whole area is steeped in history, especially Putney Heath which is 400 acres of parkland that have served as military grounds, stations for telegraph chains and meeting points for highwaymen. Now, the Heath hosts sports and games as well as an annual fun fair, still drawing in Londoners looking to relax and amuse themselves.
The area is a largely residential area, well situated for transport in and out of the city, yet offering peaceful, open spaces and riverside attractions for rewarding leisure time. This relative calm in such a central location makes it an ideal place to work. Putney is, also, ideally situated for anyone keen on sneaking off to the Wimbledon tournament, or for watching the football at Craven Cottage in nearby Fulham.
With the majority of its space dedicated to residential properties, large office complexes are hard to come by. Instead, the district plays host to a number of smaller spaces within its commercial centre and alongside its retail space. These would be ideally suited to those looking for space to start up a new business or for freelancers and entrepreneurs looking for space local to home where they can focus on their work.
Whilst there are comparatively few premium office centres to be found in Putney, the relative affordability of these spaces, when compared to the City centre or other, more commercially orientated areas, makes Putney a fantastic location to work. Alongside this is the attraction of the district's green spaces and amenities by the river, both of which are a far cry away from the rush and traffic that have to be endured in Central London.
Putney Station is connected to National Rail lines and connects to London Waterloo and the South West train lines beyond that. This connection makes it ideal for commuters into the city thanks to Waterloo’s Underground connections, especially its direct line to Bank station and the City of London.
Putney is fed by the Wimbledon branch of the District line by East Putney and Putney Bridge tube stations. This makes the area very easily accessible from the whole city and strongly connected to the surrounding residential areas of West London - a dream for city commuters.
